Foodbank gives Norwich Christian charity van for free

Norwich Christian charity the House of Genesis has been given a van for free thanks to the generosity of Waveney Foodbank and publicity on Network Norfolk.

Val Dodsworth from Genesis, collected the van from Waveney Foodbank Operations Manager, Matthew Scade, at its distribution warehouse on the Brome industrial estate near Diss earlier this week. Genesis provides accommodation and support for vulnerable single homeless men who may be ex-offenders.

Matthew advertised the van on the Network Norfolk website and received several requests for it. He said he was happy to give the Fiat Doblo van away for free after the Foodbank took delivery of a smart new van for its own work, collecting and distributing emergency food to thousands of people across South Norfolk and North Suffolk.

Val said: “Thank you so much for the gift of the van, we are all delighted with it.  It sped home with me this morning feeling like a good old war horse with lots of life in it. We all at Genesis, to say nothing of the Good News for Norwich & Norfolk newspaper deliveries which we are now undertaking, are going to find it so useful and are most grateful to you, and to God for giving it to us.”
