Manager vacancy at The Mitre, Norwich
St Thomas' Church have an exciting opportunity for a very special person to grasp, refine and implement the exciting vision to transform The Mitre into a unique expression of 21st Century Christian Church.
The former Mitre public house has recently been bought and refurbished by the church of St Thomas Norwich (STN) .
Located within the medieval city of Norwich; in an area of vibrant and renovated Victorian housing; The Mitre is just 10 minutes walk from the city centre or 25 minutes walk to the University of East Anglia. The community is varied, including professionals, academics, students, single person households and the elderly.
The ideal individual for this role will be a special blend of person combining the attributes of a church pastor with the skills of a caterer and business person. A pub landlord in a dog collar or a vicar in chef’s whites!
The church has acquired the building as part of its mission to connect with and serve the local community. It wants to do this through providing an excellent venue worthy of any high street serving food and beverages including alcoholic drinks. Regular and one off events aimed at providing for the needs and wishes of the community will be organised. The Mitre will be distinctively characterised by the way it cares for and values people - outrageously! The Mitre is a not for profit business covering its own costs with any surplus going to the STN Church and Trust.
It is expected that the successful candidate may have acquired the necessary mix of skills, knowledge and experience through a combination of training, employment and voluntary positions. The right person will view the role more as a vocation than a job. A salary of £26,000 is offered.
