Swaffham hosts Good News for God’s Earth event
 

The Diocese of Norwich are hosting an all-day event focused on Christian concern for the environment at the Green Britain Centre in Swaffham on Saturday, May 6.

'Good News for God’s Earth' on Saturday, May 6, 10am-4.30pm will be an event filled with stimulating presentations, conversations, interactive activities and worship centred around our Christian care for the environment.  

Speakers include Chris Naylor from A Rocha International who will be setting the global context for the day, Ruth Valerio from Tearfund, Julian Bryant from Christian Aid, Julia Hanmer from the Bat Conservation Trust and Emily Nobbs from Norfolk Wildlife Trust.

Brother Samuel from the Society of St Francis will be exploring Franciscan spirituality and ecology, and Canon Victoria Johnson from the Diocese of Ely will have plenty of resources to offer on celebrating the environment through liturgy.

The Environment Officer for Ely Diocese, Nigel Cooper will also be helping to explore the concept of sustainable church buildings. 

As well as talks and workshops there will be a number of stalls to explore including Mini-Scrapbox Scrapstore, Norfolk Wildlife Trust and TraidcraftNorwich’s Revelation Bookshop will be there with a stall packed full of useful resources. 

Executive Officer for the Care and Development of Church Buildings for the Diocese of Norwich, and one of the event organisers, Matthew McDade said: “With such a varied range of topics being covered by so august a line-up of speakers the conference offers something for anyone interested in being an environmentally-aware Christian in the 21st century.”    

The Green Britain Centre is the Visitor and Education Centre of the Green Britain Foundation and aims to inform, educate and empower people to take the small and the big steps towards living in Green Britain. 

Tickets cost £20 with lunch included or £10 if you bring your own lunch.
