Eaton church hosts children’s Pancake Party

St Andrew’s Church, Eaton hosted a children’s pancake party on Saturday, February 25 with pancake themed activities, a focus on Lent and the run up to Easter.

17 children took up the invitation to come along to a Pancake Party on Saturday, February 25 organised by St Andrew’s Eaton.
As the children arrived they were invited to get stuck into word games or to write a poem describing Shrove Tuesday.
The party was punctuated with lively games expertly led by Les Moore from St Andrew’s, which included a race to collect all the ingredients to make pancakes followed by a race to mix the ingredients and then a pancake tossing competition.
Andrea Woods, Children, Young People and Families’ Worker at St Andrew’s, led an interactive story on what it means to get ready for something, and how Christians prepare and get ready for Easter during Lent.  This included the retelling of Jesus' baptism and how Jesus prepared for his work on earth by going by himself into the desert and how he was tempted but never gave in to temptation.
Andrea said: “At 4.30pm we stopped for pancakes which had been lovingly prepared by Jane Scott and Lucy Rodd from St Andrew’s.
“It was a great afternoon which ended with the children each taking home a ‘Lent Calendar’, with ideas of how they could take some time each day during Lent to think about getting ready for Easter.

"It also included a tube of Smarties with the encouragement to eat them and refill the tube with 5p coins to help us raise money for the Mothers’ Union ‘Make a Mother’s Day’ appeal.”
