Norfolk entrepreneur Roly tells his uplifting story

Roly le Roy, a Norfolk entrepreneur, who tells his personal story with great humour and energy, was guest speaker at the next Norwich FGB dinner on October 11 at the Mercure Hotel, Norwich.

Norwich-born Roly has passion for restoring classic cars. His wife, Jane, has a hair-dressing salon at Toftwood, Dereham.

Roly and Jane have a surprising and uplifting story since the day they both ‘went forward’ at Carrow Road Football Stadium, in response to a Gospel message by the late Dr Billy Graham who preached to more than 63,000 people in Norwich in 1984.

Roly had ‘only reluctantly’ gone on a special coach to the stadium – “and wondered what on earth he was doing there.” However, at the close of the event, he was “amazed” to see Jane standing next to him among the hundreds of other enquirers who responded to Dr Graham’s “invitation to follow Christ,” 34 years ago.

“Looking back, God has so blessed us as a family,” reflects Roly. He and Jane have four grown-up children and 16 grandchildren – “quite a miracle for us,” he says with a smile, because they were once told that he and Jane would be unable to have a family, following a road accident.
