Norwich church's boost for domestic abuse appeal

Norwich church Proclaimers has given a generous £1,500 boost to the EDP’s campaign to raise funds for domestic abuse charity Leeway in memory of murdered Norwich mother Kerri McAuley.

Lead pastor Tom Rawls said he decided the church’s three Christmas Concerts should raise funds for the campaign after reading one of our stories last week.

“I was inspired by the article in the EDP and thought we need to do something. One of the girls at the church works at Leeway and with our work in the community we have had to consult with them on a number of occasions.

He said the whole church community had rallied around to make the impressive donation.

“I want to say thank you very, very much to people. We had some great responses from the community all around us, so many people were moved to give money. Many thanks to all the people who gave to the campaign.

“We are very pleased to be able to help Leeway. They do a phenomenal job - we support them and the work they are doing.”

During Proclaimers’ Christmas Concerts they also reported that they had distributed more than 350 hampers providing a complete Christmas dinner for families in need.
