Open Word Bible course starts in Norwich this Autumn
Local people are invited to embark on an adventure through the Bible by joining the Open Word course starting in September in Norwich.
The course is run by St Stephen’s Church in Norwich and the venue for the fortnightly sessions is The Chapel, Fellowes Plain, Wessex Street, Norwich NR2 2TJ, starting on September 18.
Paul writes that ‘… the Holy Scriptures … are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that all God’s people may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.’ (2 Timothy 3:15-17). That, in essence, is the manifesto for the 18 session Monday evening engagement with the Bible over three terms at St Stephen’s Church, starting on 18 September 2017 and ending on 25 June 2018.
Course presenter Matthew Hutton said, “Open Word is not so much a course as an adventure, enjoyed in community over a couple of hours as we journey together through God’s word.”
“In covering - somewhat ambitiously! - the whole Bible over 18 evenings, we want to see how God’s Grand Story hangs together and how He speaks to us though the unfamiliar as well as the more well-known bits.”
A particular aim of the course is to demonstrate how Jesus inhabits the Old Testament. Matthew said, “We shall ask the Holy Spirit to draw each one of us closer to our wonderful God of love.”
People are invited to join the course, which is free of charge, whatever their stage in the Christian life.
