Summer news from Norfolk Christian retreat centre

Norfolk Christian retreat centre Letton Hall is enjoying a busy summer season, with over 50 groups staying so far this year and many projects and improvements in the pipeline. Bookings are now being taken for Autumn Bible focus.

The team at Letton Hall, situated near Shipdam in Mid-Norfolk, have been working hard to ensure everything is as it should be to welcome and bless their guests.

In the first half of this year, over 50 groups stayed at Letton Hall. Many were church groups and youth groups, a lot of schools and several student ministries. They have also hosted numerous individuals, leadership teams and sometimes family groups for short, personal retreats.

Centre manager Danny Pritchard said, “Whilst many of those who come are Christian groups and it is a joy to see people come together for worship, fellowship and discipleship, we have had increasing opportunities to welcome people who do not necessarily share our faith. We greatly value these opportunities to be a witness to them of God's love and care, both in word and deed.”

Letton hall is a beautiful grade 2 listed building and there are always jobs to do maintaining the building and its grounds.
This year new fruit and vegetable garden has been established by Jon and Gill, who are resident staff at Letton Hall, with the help of regular volunteers.

A biomass heating system was commissioned at the end of last year and has been a great success. The buildings are as warm as they have ever been and the Renewable Heat Incentive means that the new installation pays its way too.

Danny said, “As a team dealing with the demands and pressures of running and maintaining Letton Hall day by day, we often need to remind ourselves that this is what we are here for, what it is all about, blessing God's people and creating a space for them to get to know Him better, wherever they may be on that journey.

Autumn Bible focus

Monday 2nd  - Thursday 5th October
Fred Horrox will be the speaker (pictured with his wife Sheila)
Fred's theme is 'Keep on Keeping on' and he will be exploring questions such as:

  • How do we keep going in the Christian life?
  • What does it mean to be a disciple?
  • Why do bad things happen to good people?
  • What do we make of changing views of the Bible?

Along with insights into their mission work in Africa, Fred and Sheila's ministry is sure to challenge and inspire us!
