On the afternoon of Sunday, December 18 an open air carol service concluded with the formal opening of Hope Community Centre on Ayton Road, Wymondham. Wymondham Mayor Joe Mooney (pictured right) addressed the assembled throng before cutting the ribbon. Mr Mooney said: “I wanted to come along and say well done to all of you for all the hard work that you have put into putting this excellent facility into fruition. You should be very proud of what you have achieved and looking at the events that take place here it is clear to me that you do engage with the wider community of Wymondham which is very good news indeed”. Following the formal opening guests were invited to join church members in the building where they could explore the facility, enjoy mince pies and refreshments, and meet friends. The 200 seat auditorium space and community rooms, which cost £700k, will be used by Hope Community Church and the Hub Community Project to house their growing number of members and activities as well as being available for hire by local community organisations. Hope Community Church are hosting services on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day at 10.30am. From Sunday, January 8 the church will be hosting two services every Sunday, commencing at 9.30am and 11.30am with refreshments served in the thirty minutes between each service. Both services will be the same in content and structure with children’s activities available at both.
