Proms picnic for Norwich church 80th birthday
On Saturday July 18, 2015, Oak Grove Community Church will host a summer picnic and proms concert featuring Catton Community Choir and members of the audience.
The concert, which takes place at The Hub, Catton Grove Primary School, Weston Road, Norwich, NR3 3TP, marks what has become an annual event not to be missed; it features a range of musical delights and will culminate in a last night of the proms where audience participation is encouraged!
This year, the concert will also mark the end of Musical Director Sarah Ballard’s time with the choir. Having started the choir 6 years ago, Sarah says “It’s been a really tough decision and it’s not one that I’ve made lightly! I love this choir, what it stands for and the fun and community that we share. However, I believe that life has seasons and I’m delighted to be leaving the choir in the safe hands of Catherine Wright.” Sarah who works for Norwich Youth For Christ as well as Oak Grove Community Church goes on to say “I’ll still be about – and will still be working in the local community on some exciting new projects! One thing I can guarantee is that I intend to remain one of Catton Community Choirs leading groupies! I want this concert to be not only a celebration of the choir and all it has achieved, but an opportunity to look ahead and get excited about the new chapter that the choir is heading towards.”
Guests are encouraged to bring their picnics (or pre-book one through the church office), the venue will be open from 7pm for guests to arrive and enjoy their picnics and the concert will start at 7:45pm. Tickets must be booked in advance as individual tickets (£4 and £3.50) or as complete tables (8 seats £25). Funds raised from the concert will go towards the continued running of the choir, and Oak Grove Community Church as they mark their 80th Birthday Year.
