Norfolk Christian radio to national broadcaster
Samuel Ball has combined his life-long love of God and radio and is now a full-time presenter on UCB Inspirational where he presents the drive programme from 4-7pm, Andy Latham reports
Samuel has lived in Thetford his whole life and attended Church On The Way in Thetford since birth.
After training and experience at hospital radio, community radio and internet radio fulfilled a life-long ambition to be a radio presenter, Samuel felt called to launch Norfolk Christian Radio that was rebranded to Kingdom Radio soon afterwards. Two years later, after feeling God push him to widen their exposure Radio Thetford was born in 2010 and was based in a purpose built studio at The Church On The Way. Samuel was able to combine his job as a broadcast assistant at BBC Radio Norfolk and BBC East whilst running Radio Thetford and managing a team of 18 presenters.
A lightning strike in 2012 put a halt to Radio Thetford's capability to broadcast, and it ceased broadcasting later that same year; it was around this time that Samuel was called by God to attend bible school, where he gained a two year Diploma in Applied Theology.
After graduating in June, Samuel became a broadcast volunteer at UCB assisting on both UCB UK and UCB Inspirational breakfast programmes. It was a dream of his to put both his love of God and radio together and God has blessed Samuel in abundance. In September he became a full time radio presenter on UCB Inspirational and presents the drive programme every weekday from 4-7PM, and Sunday breakfast on UCB UK from 6am.
Samuel comments, “My hope and passion is that my programmes will bless those that listen, that I can transmit that we are all in this journey together, and that with ‘Great Music, and a message of hope’ I can input God's love, God's Promises and The Word into lives around the UK. God works in mysterious ways and who knows where I’ll be in 5 years, but I would hope that I would be presenting on this platform, changing lives for the better!”
Samuel continues “working at UCB is so special because of its coverage. All around the UK lives are being changed, and UCB is bringing light into so many dark places around the UK and beyond. It's also a joy in knowing I'm where God wants me, and in that seeing a childhood dream of presenting on national radio coming to fruition, is beyond anything I could have ever hoped for”.
UCB has a TV channel and 5 radio stations and is also the publisher of daily devotional The Word for Today.
UCB Inspirational is available online at ucb.co.uk, as well as Sky 0136 and via iPhone/Android & web apps; the UCB team are working prayerfully towards a national DAB licence for UCB Inspirational.
