New era for Norwich church after 50 years

TrevorJoycePimlott450Norwich Family Life Church will bring 50 years of service to an end on Sunday night (July 6) and see the dawning of a new era with the birth of a new congregation to be called Soul Church.

A special service at 6pm at the Mason Road church will celebrate “50 Years of Faithfulness” and witness a “changing of the guard” to the next generation and honour the long involvement of the Pimlott family in the church’s development.

Long-standing pastors Trevor and Joyce Pimlott will be handing over the baton to former church members Jon and Chantel Norman, who have recently returned from six years in South Africa, where they were on the pastoral team of Hillsong Church, Capetown, attracting 12,000 people across their services each Sunday.

Pastor Trevor Pimlott said: “We sense this is God’s time to hand over and know Jon and Chantel will take the church in this city further and higher than we've ever been before. All are welcome to join us on this special night where we will again be making history. Jesus is alive and the future of the church is brighter than ever. We're going where we have never been before and I'm excited to be a part of the journey. Let the future begin.

JonChantelNorman450Norwich Family Life Church, formerly known as Mount Zion Church, has impacted the city of Norwich and far beyond during its 50-year history. A fire in 2005, although it destroyed the building on Heartsease Lane, couldn't put out the spirit and passion of the church, which now meets at Mason Road, Norwich, and the flame is burning brighter than ever.”

Pastor Jon Norman said: “As we look back our hearts are filled with gratitude for all that God has done. As we look forward to the opening of Soul Church on Sunday July 13 our hearts are filled with excitement and expectation for all God is yet to do. We will continue to build from a position of strength and the great heritage we have been blessed with.

“It is our desire to see Pastors’ Trevor and Joyce Pimlott blessed beyond their wildest dreams. A special love offering will be taken up for them on the night, together with some other surprises to be revealed. We very much look forward to celebrating with our guests. I know this will be an unforgettable and historic night of honour, as the baton is passed on.
