In support of the Real Easter Egg Campaign, 50 Fairtrade eggs, which tell the story of Easter, will be placed in churches covering the length and breadth of the Diocese of Norwich. From 11 March until 1 April you are invited to visit the churches and find as many as you can.
Speaking of the Easter Egg hunt, the
Archdeacon of Norwich,
the Venerable Jan McFarlane said “Everyone loves the challenge of an Easter Egg hunt, and this is a perfect opportunity to combine a fun day out with the opportunity to visit some of our magnificent church buildings, and to see some of the hidden treasures of Norfolk.”
There are nearly 650 churches in the Diocese, so to make the task a little easier, a special online map will show which churches are involved in the hunt:

Once you have found an egg take a picture of it in its hiding place and either tweet it to
@DioceseNorwich or email it to
news@norwich.anglican.org. The person who sends in the most pictures will win an ethical chocolate hamper full of Fairtrade goodies.
The eggs hidden in the hunt are from the
Real Easter Egg Company and are the first and only Fairtrade egg to explain the meaning of Easter. Sales of the eggs also supports charity and development projects. The Real Easter Egg is now in its third year of production; over 200,000 have been sold so far, and have encouraged people to explore the Christian faith.
Speaking of the eggs,
the Bishop of Norwich, the Right Rev Graham James said “It is encouraging to hear that many lives have been changed by people receiving a Real Easter Egg. It is proof that the events of Easter, including the death and resurrection of Jesus, have the power to open minds, change lives and offer real hope. It is also a boost for charitable giving, Fairtrade and the work of trade justice. I hope individuals will hunt out a Real Easter Egg this year.”
