Five staff to leave Revelation centre in Norwich

Five members of staff at the Revelation Christian Resource Centre in Norwich are set to leave the business after sales were hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Manager Steve Foyster( pictured below), along with four other members of staff, will be leaving Revelation at the end of October when the government furlough scheme ends. It has been a difficult time for Revelation with takings significantly affected by the impact of Covid-19.

The trustees say they have had to make some difficult decisions but they hope as a result of various cost savings that Revelation will be able to continue to serve the local faith community and beyond. Roger Triffitt will be the contact point for the future.

SteveFoyster750In a statement, the trustees of Revelation (Norwich Christian Resources), said: “In common with most enterprises working in the retail and hospitality sector we have been significantly affected by the impact of Covid-19. Government directive required us to close our doors in March when all the staff were placed on furlough.

“The shop reopened in July and the café in August allowing us to bring five staff back from furlough. Since reopening our sales have been running between 50% and 60% of former levels.

“It is with much sadness therefore that when the Government furlough scheme ends on October 31, the trustees regret that for financial reasons the Centre will be unable to bring back the five remaining furloughed members of staff including Steve Foyster, Gill Prior and Diane Ellis.

“They have been involved with the Centre from the start in 2008 and have been instrumental in making the Centre an important part of the local faith community. For Steve in particular and under his inimitable style the Centre has become more than just a resource centre developing for itself a reputation for staging some powerful events under the title of “Hope in a broken World”.

“Having to make this decision has been particularly difficult for the trustees and they wish to place on record their sincere thanks to Steve, Gill, Diane, Claire and Jonathan for their commitment and loyal service throughout what have been some challenging times.

“Revelation will continue to operate offering the same high range of resources and service to its customers,“ they said.
