Norwich Cathedral to host special Taizé evening
Brother Paolo from the Taizé community is making a special visit to Norwich, during which Norwich Cathedral will host a time of prayer around the cross in the Taizé tradition.
The event will take place on Friday March 20 at 7.00 pm, at Norwich Cathedral, NR1 4DH.
The Taizé community is a monastic order founded in 1940 in rural France. Prayer and silence are at the heart of the Taizé experience, and during services there is repeated chanting of prayers as well as other phrases from scripture that are sung. The repetition encourages an atmosphere of meditation and prayer.
Before services there is a time of practice, followed by a period of silence before the main service begins. The Taizé community has a strong devotion to peace and justice through prayer and meditation.
Bishop Graham’s particular vision is to see young people participating in the service and experiencing the Taizé worship, perhaps for the first time.
All are welcome and there is no need to book in advance.
