Following a reorganisation of roles the Diocese of Norwich are looking to appoint a full-time Personal Assistant to provide efficient and effective administrative support to the Director of Marketing & Communications.

You'll need excellent organisational and time management skills and superb written and spoken communication skills.  Discretion and confidentiality are essential attributes.
You will often act as the Director’s first point of contact with people from both inside and outside the organisation, and respond to queries on their behalf in a calm and professional manner.  Accuracy and attention to detail is very important.

Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Managing multiple email accounts; replying and signposting queries appropriately
  • Answering phone calls, enquiries and requests, often corresponding on behalf of the Director
  • Proactively managing diaries and arranging meetings
  • Organising travel arrangements
  • Managing financial administration such as coding invoices and expenditure
  • Compiling agendas and writing action points from meetings
  • Preparing documents, briefing papers and letters


Key details:

  • 35 hours per week (Mon - Fri, 9am - 5pm)
  • Salary: Band D (Starting at £21,173)
  • Defined Contribution Group Personal Pension Plan and Healthcare Cash Plan after six months
  • 22 days holiday per annum, plus statutory bank holidays and discretionary Christmas holiday
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • The role is based at Diocesan House in Easton near Norwich (NR9 5ES)

About the Marketing & Communications team:

We equip local churches to be better communicators. We run training and offer practical support to help churches become more effective and professional in their branding, online presence, and in promoting their activities and events which make such a difference in the community.

We celebrate and share the breadth and impact of the Church of England by coordinating large events, working closely with the press and media, engaging in social media and the web, and through short films.

Operationally we support our staff and officers through IT provision, event management, graphic design, campaign planning and delivery, web and database development, photography and filming, writing and publications.
