Appeal for Latitude Festival Pastors prayer support

Town Pastors from 11 projects across Suffolk and Norfolk will be helping to ensure the safety of the 35,000 people attending the Latitude music and arts festival in Suffolk in mid July.

And the team are appealing for Christians across East Anglia to support their work through prayer.

Latitude is a major festival of music, art, creativity, fun and relaxation for all ages based at Henham Park, Suffolk.

Town Pastors from all 11 night-time street welfare projects in Norfolk and Suffolk, will attend under the banner of Festival Pastors to serve, pray and care for those attending.

FestivalPastorsBack456Coordinator, Jan Bedford, said: ”Our primary role at Latitude is to carry out welfare patrols of the campsites during daytimes and then move into the wooded arena areas between the stages and the camping through the evening into the early hours of the morning, looking out for the vulnerable.

”This helps with safety and crime but is far more than that, letting us engage with and help those we interact with. Of course when asked, we share that we serve for the love of Christ and this always leads to many spiritual encounters every year and the start of changed lives we hope.”

Another key activity is the popular Festival Pastor Café, a relaxing break-out marquee where a warm welcome and refreshments at the cheapest prices on site is always on the menu.

Prayer is at the heart of Town Pastors and during Latitude (July 13-16) and the baton of prayer is passed between all 11 schemes with intercessions taking place throughout the festival. Additionally, there will be a board inside the café where individuals can post their prayer requests, questions, thoughts and inspirations and there is a constant prayerful presence in a dedicated prayer team tent.

”With so many people attending from all over the UK and beyond, we would love it if our Christian family across East Anglia would also support and ‘Love Latitude’ in prayer,” said Jan.

Do you appreciate our service and stories?

The Network Norwich & Norfolk website has been published for over 13 years now and we have an established team of professional journalists covering the activities, organisations and churches which make up the county’s Christian community. Our whole purpose is to support that community by daily providing accurate, unbiased stories and features.

We would like to ask you to consider supporting our work and suggest you might want to make a small regular donation of just £1 a week and become one of our 100 Friends, or a larger one-off or annual amount.
