Christians Against Poverty launched in Yarmouth

cap-primary-logogreen 400CFPark Baptist Church held a reception to celebrate the Launch of the Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Debt Centre in Great Yarmouth on January 30.

Groups and organisations from across the borough were invited to join the Mayor of Great Yarmouth, Councillor Malcolm Bird, and his wife, to hear presentations about the work of CAP in the local area, and ways in which the volunteers at Park Baptist Church were able to help those struggling with their finances and those fighting to manage debts.
Over 20 organisations were represented at the event which was also attended by Councillor Trevor Wainwright, and a representative from the offices of the local MP, Brandon Lewis. Delegates were given an overview of CAP and the work undertaken by the team of volunteers based at Park Baptist Church, with presentations by Sandra Grey, Lead Money Coach and Pat Hillier, Debt Centre Manager.
Christians Against Poverty offers a full debt management service, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and administered by the 250 strong staff team at its head office in Bradford. By visiting people in their own homes, CAP representatives can collate all the necessary papers and submit them to head office.  A budget is then prepared and presented back to the clients via the local Debt Centre Manager, who is qualified to discuss the options presented and help clients choose.
Anyone struggling with debt can contact CAP on 0800 328 0006.
There is also a CAP money course starting on March 8.  Places can be booked online at
or by phoning Sandra Grey on 01493 843361, who is also happy to give more information about CAP.
