Thetford's Team Rector announces retirement

Canon Bob Baker, the Rector of the Thetford Team Ministry has announced that he will retire after spending more than 35 years serving Norfolk churches.

Canon Bob Baker, Rector of the Thetford Team Ministry which serves 6 churches in and around Thetford, will retire at the end of October.

Canon Baker began his ministry as a curate in Southampton, and was invited to Norfolk in 1980 by the then Bishop of Norwich.  After spending 25 years in the Benefice of Brundall, he moved to Thetford in 2005 to serve with the town’s Church of England team ministry.   He also serves as Chaplain to the Mayor of Thetford, is a Governor of the Bishop’s Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School and has led the town’s remembrance parade for the past ten years.

Within the Church of England, Canon Baker is a Church Commissioner as elected by the General Synod since 2009, was Prolocutor of the Lower House of the Convocation of Canterbury from 2000 – 2005, has been a member of the Church Heritage Forum from 2001 and served on the Archbishops' Council 2001-05.
