Hear Rocket Rod at Mattishall church breakfast
Last month Norfolk Christian Rod Stevenson successfully constructed and launched a 300mph V2 rocket achieving the highest rocket qualification in the UK. On June 14 Rod will be speaking about ‘God, Astronomy and Rockets’ at a Men's Breakfast at All Saints’ Church, Mattishall.
Norfolk Christian science teacher Rod ‘Rocket Rod’ Stevenson was recently featured in the EDP when he launched his one-fifth scale V2 rocket to a height of more than 2500ft on May 5 in Cambridgeshire.
In doing so, Rod achieved a Level 3 qualification from the UK Rocketry Association, a feat that only a handful of people have achieved.
Now Rod, who built the V2 in his garage, working every evening and most weekends for four weeks, will be speaking at a Men’s Breakfast in the church rooms of All Saints' Church, Mattishall on Saturday June 14, 8.30am on the subject of ‘God, Astronomy and Rockets’.
Alan Cossey who organises the Men’s Breakfast, said: “Rod will be bringing some examples of his equipment along to the breakfast and will be speaking about amateur rocketry, space exploration and the role God has played in some of the astronauts lives (both Apollo and Shuttle eras) as well as his own.
“Come and hear about some of the successful as well as unsuccessful launches that Rod has been involved with.”
If you are a man and you are interested in coming along to the cooked breakfast and talk, please contact Alan Cossey at firstname.lastname@example.org.
