Christians urged to support Norfolk police

NationalPoliceService1Rev James East, a Force Chaplain for Norfolk Constabulary, is encouraging Christians in Norwich to show support for the annual 'National Day of Prayer for the Police' Service on Thursday May 9.

The Christian Police Association (CPA) will host their 'National Day of Prayer for the Police’ service at Norwich Central Baptist Church on Thursday May 9, 7.30 pm

The evening will be an opportunity to join together to pray for police officers and staff, safety whilst on duty, success bringing offenders to justice and changes to policing.   The evening will include Jill Gower, Director of Call to Prayer, PC Andrew Nattrass, Chairman of the Catholic Police Guild and representatives of Kairos Prison Ministries.

Rev James East, Force Chaplain and Minister of Norwich Central Baptist Church said: “It’s wonderful to stand alongside our brothers and sisters in Christ who are police officers. The Service is a demonstration of support and love for the men and women who, on a daily basis, put themselves in harm’s way to protect and serve us. It would be wonderful if all of the city churches could be represented in some way”.
This year’s Service will launch the year of preparation for ‘CPA Norfolk 2014 – the National Conference’.  Following the re-launch of the Norfolk CPA branch in 2009 Branch Leaders Rachel Foster and Jon Cotterell were given the vision for the national CPA conference to be brought to Norfolk, where it has never previously been hosted.  The contributors to the evening will be also participating in the 2014 conference.

Rachel Foster said: “CPA branches across the whole of the UK will be holding prayer initiatives during the 24 hours of May 9-10.  Norfolk branch are holding a 24/7 prayer initiative so please do pray for your police during this time and come along to the Service to bless and encourage your police service here in Norfolk.”

Everyone is warmly invited to come along to the event.
