Barry welcomed as Norwich Christian youth worker
A Norwich Christian youth project has recently employed a full time Youth and Schools Worker to expand their work into the greater Norwich area.
Initially ENYP focused its community based youth work on the East Norwich area but over the past year has been expanding into the Greater Norwich area to promote the social, mental, spiritual, moral and physical development of young people.
ENYP now works in partnership with approximately 800 children and young people through a wide range of clubs, projects and activities, and has face to face contact with over 3,000 children and young people through their detached work and schools programmes.
Expansion has led to working with around 20 churches, and the ENYP team’s capacity has increased with the employment of a new full time Youth and Schools Worker.
Barry Field, ENYP Youth Worker said, “For the last few years I have been working full time for Rugby Youth for Christ as a Youth and Schools Worker. Moving to Norwich has been a step of faith, however I am really excited about taking up this new position with ENYP, and joining with the work that God is already doing with the young people of Norwich. I hope to grow and expand on what I have already learnt in the last few years in youth work but to also take on new challenges and to reach new young people that need the good news of Jesus in their lives”.
Danny Doran-Smith, Director of ENYP, said, “We’re excited to see Barry join the team, and to expand with more opportunities to employ staff members. It’s an exciting time for the Project and for the work we do for young people across the Greater Norwich area”.
Working in partnership with churches ENYP’s strategy is to help develop the following 5 Key areas in the communities of Norwich.
1. Children’s work
2. Youth work
3. After school activities
4. Schools work
5. Nurturing and Discipleship groups
Jill Gower, ENYP Trustee, said “I am very encouraged at the doors that are opening for ENYP to work alongside the churches in the area, and to put in place some excellent youth work. Danny and his team are doing a great job, and the ministry is growing all the time”.
