Norwich church streams service to reach thousands

Alive Church, based in Alive House, Nelson Street, Norwich, held its first live stream service on Facebook Sunday morning reaching over 2000 people.

Pastor Phil Thorne said, “There are so many people that have never engaged with church who can connect from a smart device or computer and watch a live service. Interestingly, live video is outpacing the growth of other types of online video.”

Broadcasting a church service means we can reach Alive family who are ill or injured, or unable to make it in person. We believe that live streaming will also provide many people with the opportunity to connect from a distance as well as allowing people who missed the live service to connect in later.

Johanna Thorne said, “We embarked on this journey of live video media six years ago and have always felt passionate about this medium of communication. We believe connecting heaven into people’s homes can bring a dynamic life-changing shift into their circumstances. An online service gives people an opportunity to peek into the life of the church where they may not have otherwise entered.”

"Perhaps the greatest benefit is that people wanting to find out more about Christianity can watch online and as a church we can spread the reach of the good news of Jesus further than we’ve ever been able to before."

You can connect and watch the live video services on Facebook page – Alive Norwich. If you want to be part of a dynamic, innovative, creative media team, as we develop this exciting opportunity to reach thousands, please contact media director, Jono on jono@alive.org.uk. Training is provided.
