Performance of Passion play written by Norfolk vicar
Rev Dean Akrill, the Associate Vicar of the Sprowston Parish, has written an original one act Passion play which will be performed by a talented local cast on Tuesday, April 11.
‘“I am”, she said’ is a new one act Passion play written by Rev Dean Akrill (pictured right) of Sprowston Parish for Easter. The play is written, produced and performed as part of ‘Scart’, the performing arts programme of at St Cuthbert’s church in Sprowston.
Rev Dean Akrill, who leads Scart and has a passion for the performing arts said: “Like with “Fuzzy”, a play I wrote concerning the book of Job. I wanted to take a sideways look at a familiar story.
"‘“I am”, she said’, explores the passion from the perspective of Mary Magdalene and Jesus’ mother; in doing so I hope to raise questions about love and faith, in a way which is entertaining as well as challenging.”
The play will be performed on Tuesday, April 11, 7.30pm-8.30pm by a local cast, some of who have worked on Scart art productions before and some of who are new discoveries.
Scart aims to provide a varied mix of performing arts. It invites professional and amateur performances, as well as producing original drama for performance and worship and encouraging participation in the local amateur dramatic scene.
Admission to the performance of ‘“I am”, she said’ is free.
