Overstrand Pleasaunce 600CF

North Norfolk Christian holiday centre re-opens

2017: The Christian Endeavour Holiday Centre, The Pleasaunce, situated in Overstrand two miles south-east of Cromer on the North Norfolk coast, is set to re-open in summer 2017.

The Pleasaunce closed its doors to guests at the end of October 2015 and was on the market for a while.  With the arrival of a new board of trustees in April 2016, Christian Endeavour Holiday Centres Ltd. (CEHC) has resurrected its core vision.  Having taken professional advice, the trustees have concluded that both remaining centres have a viable future.  Following a programme of essential repairs and improvements, Beechwood Court, Conwy, will re-open at Easter, followed by The Pleasaunce in the summer of 2017.

The Pleasaunce is a Grade II* listed mansion, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens for Lord and Lady Battersea.  Frequent visitors included Queen Alexandra, her sister the Empress of Russia and Princess Louise.

Built between 1888 and 1902, the main house stands in 6 acres of walled grounds containing a chapel, cloisters, sunken and rose gardens, a bungalow, clock tower and annexe.  What is now known as CEHC purchased the house in 1936, a few years after Lady Battersea’s death.

The mansion is located within 100 yards of the cliffs, which overlook Overstrand’s sandy beach.  Accommodating up to 80 guests, the Centre is an ideal destination for holidaymakers, conference groups, weekend/mid-week breaks, school parties and retreats.

CEHC’s business development officer welcomes all enquiries and bookings at sales@cehc.org.uk or on 01492 593405.
