The Jerusalem Trust has given a grant of £4,000 to help develop the work of Norwich church, Proclaimers with offenders and to expand the project to include HMP Wayland (pictured above) as well as HMP Norwich. Tom Rawls, Lead Pastor of Proclaimers (pictured right) said: “I’m really passionate about the work our team do going into the prisons. The Bible encourages us to remember those in prison. We have such a message of hope and future to share, that it’s too good to keep to ourselves.” The team from Proclaimers have been working in prisons for five years and help lead services as well as a scheme writing letters to keep in touch with, and encourage those that they meet at the services. Tom continues: “We know what we do has a big impact. Just last week we received a letter from someone who attended our service. He shared about some personal struggles he had been experiencing for years. He explained how a passage our speaker used from Matthew 11:28-29 about being weary and burdened helped him identify his personal burden and he commented ‘now having released this burden I can rest’. “The church has lots of further plans for the development of this project including a work placement scheme at the conferencing facility ‘The Space’. This is just the start of how we want to have an impact on the lives of these men”.
