New Christian bookshop opens in Cromer
A new Christian bookshop has opened in the centre of Cromer offering a wide range of books, cards and gifts. Tony Rothe reports.
Shiloah Books is located at 23 Church Street, opposite Cromer Baptist Church, and stocks a range of bibles, commentaries, other Christian literature as well as greetings cards, calendars, diaries and gifts. Christian books not in stock can be ordered on request. There is also a selection of good quality second-hand books, both Christian and on a range of general subjects.
Lisa Davies, wife of the Cromer Baptist pastor, used to manage the Christian book section of the Blytheswood Charity Shop in Cromer. When the lease came to an end, Blytheswood decided to close the shop, but Lisa wanted to keep a Christian retail presence in the town, so she set up Shiloah Books in August in a shop which had just become vacant opposite the Baptist Church.
Lisa says “In the holiday season, we had customers from various parts of the country, lots of day trippers, as well as local Christians who have been pleased to see a Christian bookshop open in the area. Now that our Christmas stock is on the shelves, we are getting more people coming in for Christmas cards and gifts.”
Opening hours are Monday to Saturday 10am to 4.30pm.
For more information, phone Lisa at the shop on 01263 515691.
