Crook to Christian speaker at Cromer breakfast
The Regional Director of Christian Vision for Men (CVM), Simon Pinchbeck, will be giving his testimony and speaking about the importance of men's ministry at a men’s breakfast on Saturday July 9 at St Martin’s church in Cromer. Tony Rothe reports.
Simon Pinchbeck was a 'copper' who had a career change & became a criminal, then had a life change & became a Christian.
After 23yrs in the Metropolitan Police, Simon left after receiving a 'not guilty' verdict on an assault charge. He then became obsessed with money and material things and was tempted into a life of crime by men he had met in the local gym. Subsequently, after being 'ripped of'` by his associates for a large amount of money, he was left feeling the lowest he had ever been in his life - facing prison or death - but God threw him a lifeline in the shape of another very violent criminal who had turned his life around through his faith in Jesus Christ.
As a result of seeing the difference faith had made to this man, Simon invited Jesus into his own life, and began a personal relationship with Him, developing this through an Alpha course.
That was in 2002, and since then Simon has had ten great years with the ministry of Tough Talk - speaking in outreaches, churches, schools & prisons. He now feels privileged & excited to be invited onto the Team at CVM.
Simon has been married to Lynda for over 30yrs. They have two sons, Tom and Jamie, and a granddaughter Scarlett. Simon is an Arsenal supporter and helps to run monthly breakfasts at God Central & Harlow Baptist Church in Essex.
"Evangelism is in my DNA - put me anywhere and I will tell anyone what Jesus has done in my life” says Simon. “But I also have a real passion for building men up and releasing them to be the men God made them to be. That is why CVM is so important in this country - building strong Christian men in friendships, in the workplace, in family & in church. One man can make a difference - but with CVM together we can make an impact."
The next Men's (full English!) Breakfast will be at St Martin's Church, Mill Road, Cromer, NR27 0BH from 8am til 10am on Saturday July 9, and is open to all men in the North Norfolk area. There is no charge for the event but donations are welcomed to cover costs and bless the speaker, as he is self-funded.
