Acle churches unite in prayer walk

Acle prayer walk 384CFMembers of Acle churches joined together for the annual prayer walk around the village.

A cross - section of members of the Church of England, Roman Catholic and Methodist community from Acle took part in the walk during the afternoon of Sunday February 21. They were led by the Rector Rev Martin Greenland, Deacon Rev Peter Glanville, and lay preacher Vernon Cumpstey, all pictured above outside Acle Police Station.

The group congregated first of all outside St. Edmund’s Church, where appropriate prayers were led by Martin. It then processed around various places of interest, including the police station, the bank, the Veterinary Hospital, High School, Cemetery, Recreation Centre, Medical Centre and the Library. At each point different participants recited prayers appropriate to the various users of those places.

The walk ended at the Methodist Church where all the participants enjoyed refreshments.

Church member John Kenny said “It is good to see the local churches continuing to display ecumenical ideals in this annual prayer walk”.
