Norfolk Christian league kicks off new season

UEACupWinnersMay15x450The new season for the Norfolk Christian Football League kicks off on Saturday September 12 with two adult divisions and four youth divisions, comprising a total of almost 40 teams.

The adult league has 11 teams in two divisions for this season and welcome new sides UEA Harriers and Heigham Park Rangers. The teams will play sides in their own league twice and teams in the other division once during the league season, plus the usual Bishop Cup and Wroxham Road Shield knock-out competitions.

The UEA Rovers ‘invincibles’ team are back to defend their league and cup double from last season but will undoubtedly be pushed hard again by teams such as Norwich Central Baptist Church and King’s Palace among others.

The adult league begins on Saturday September 12.

The youth leagues kick off on Saturday September 19 and see 28 teams across the four age groups from U10- U16.

The Under-16 league is the largest with nine teams, said League Secretary Alan Barnes: “It is also good to have more teams from around the county including Brooke, Stoke Holy Cross, Mulbarton, Mattishall, Surlingham, Sheringham and Worstead as well as a number of teams from Norwich itself.”

The league held an EGM and managers meeting on September 7 when final details for the season were finalised.

The league is also looking for businesses or organizations keen to sponsor its different leagues and competitions, click here for more details.
