Christian home appeals for help with lift bid

Quebec Hall pic1Quebec Hall Christian retirement home near Dereham in Mid Norfolk is appealing for help to pay for a large new lift to enable it to care for residents more easily.

Quebec Hall will pay for half of the £125,000 cost themselves and are looking to charitable trusts, churches and individuals to support the project and two residents, one aged 97, have compiled a book of poetry to add to the funds.

General Manager, Mark Woodgett, said: “Next year we want to install a new larger eight-person lift that will enable carers to move residents across the three floors with greater ease. A larger lift will be of tremendous benefit in moving residents and the necessary equipment around the hall.

“The plan is to build the cost into our budget for 2016 and seek for ways in which we may be able to secure funding from Christian charities where our Christian ethos is appreciated. We are confident of meeting at least half of this cost ourselves and invite interest from fellow believers to stand with us in prayer, and where they are able, to assist financially as some churches and individuals have already done.”

Two Quebec Hall residents are doing their bit to raise funds by producing a compilation of poems. Kathleen Bidewell (aged 97) and Richard Lee (78) have written Poems of Life and Faith, which is now on sale from the hall at £5 each, with proceeds going to the lift fund.

Quebec Hall has accommodation for 22 residents in the hall itself, all in en-suite rooms. It also has two large lounges which are used extensively for the majority of the hall's activities including weekly services. The hall also has 43 sheltered bungalows situated within its grounds.
