Norwich church members to pray for 300 hours
This week, members of Proclaimers Church, will spend 300 hours praying for their home city of Norwich. The prayer marathon started on Sunday when people were encouraged to spend at least 10 minutes each day praying for their city.
“300 hours sounds like a long time” said Owen Morgan, a leader from Proclaimers, “but if you think about it as at least 300 people praying for at least 10 minutes a day for 6 days, it’s an achievable goal, in fact I’m confident we’ll beat it!”
Tom Rawls, Senior Minister of Proclaimers Church, is behind the initiative: “We believe this will be a significant week for our church and for our city. We want to see God moving more powerfully in our city than ever before and we believe that prayer is essential if we are to see that happen. God said his house would be known as a house of prayer, so we are committing ourselves to pray on a daily basis for what God wants to do in us and through us in this fantastic city.”
Much of the inspiration for the 300 hours of Prayer comes form the scripture found in James 5:16 (Amplified Bible) encourages us: "…the earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available, dynamic in its working.”
Those involved will be using an online form to submit their minutes to be counted in the week’s total. Tom hopes that people will find that putting aside 10-15 minutes every day to pray and seek God is not as hard as they first thought and will continue to do so in the weeks and months that follow.
